The world is under attack from magical forces that will utterly change it, and it is Serge’s job to try to prevent his Alchemist father from completing the rituals that will shape its future. He has allies that he thinks are untrustworthy and opponents that appear to help.
On top of that, he has fallen in love with Melissa, his father’s young ex-mistress, who doesn’t understand her own powers and has escaped to a cabin in darkest Wales.
Amidst this confusion Serge befriends Ifan, Melissa’s bewildered lover, who helps him see through the layers of deliberate deceit and misdirection put in his path.
